Clam Lake Township facilitates the collection
of real and personal property taxes for the State, County, Township,
as well as Public Schools within this township. There are three public
school districts within Clam Lake Township. Cadillac Public Schools
(C.A.P.S.) encompasses the largest area, followed by Pine River, and
McBain Rural Public Schools. C.A.P.S. requires half of the operating
and debt taxes to be collected in the summer, and the other half in
the winter. Pine River and McBain Schools require all taxes to be collected
on the winter tax bill.
Tax Payment Schedule
Due to recent legislation, starting with Summer 2005, the county operating
tax will be collected 1/3 on the summer tax bill, and 2/3 on the winter
tax bill. In 2006, 2/3 of this tax will be collected on the summer tax
bill, and 1/3 on the winter tax bill. Beginning with 2007 and thereafter,
100% of this tax will be collected in the summer.
Summer tax bills are due and payable to the Township Treasurer from
July 1st through September 15th each year without penalty. From September
16th through February 28th, the summer taxes are still payable through
the township treasurer. However, 1% per month penalty is added to the
base amount. Beginning March 1st each year, summer tax rolls are turned
over to the County Treasurer for collection. Further penalties apply
and increase monthly.
Winter tax bills are due and payable to the Township Treasurer beginning
December 1st through February 28th each year. Beginning March 1st each
year, winter tax rolls are turned over to the County Treasurer for collection.
Penalties apply and increase monthly.
